Dominating the skyline along the Corniche, the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental is a five-star luxury hotel located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. This magnificent hotel oozes opulence and luxury and attracts visitors from around the world. One of its most famous experiences is the High Tea, a luxurious and indulgent affair that is a must-try for anyone visiting Abu Dhabi. Why is Emirates Palace Hotel Famous?

The Emirates Palace hotel is one of the most famous hotels in the world, and for good reason. The hotel is an architectural marvel, with its stunning design and grandeur. The hotel is built on a 1.3 km private beach and surrounded by lush gardens, fountains, and pools. The interiors are just as impressive, with gold-plated crystal chandeliers, gold-leaf ceilings, marble floors, enormous handmade carpets, and handcrafted mosaics adding to the luxurious ambiance. History and Relationship with the Royal Family The Emirates Palace hotel has a long history of hosting royalty and heads of state. It was built in 2005 as a symbol of the UAE's wealth and prestige. The hotel is owned by the Abu Dhabi government and was designed to be a tribute to Arab culture, with its stunning architecture and design elements that are inspired by traditional Emirati motifs.

The hotel's relationship with the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi is also significant. The Emirates Palace has hosted numerous high-profile events and meetings for the Royal Family, including the signing of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) agreement in 2007. The 8th floor suites are reserved for rulers of the Gulf Countries and decorated in the colors of their flags. The hotel has also been the venue for many royal weddings and celebrations. Look out for the Triumphant Arch under which royals pass if staying in the palace and its gardens full of fountains.

What to Expect at High Tea at the Emirates Palace

The High Tea at the Emirates Palace is a unique experience that is steeped in luxury and elegance. High Tea was formerly served in the Emirates Palace's Lobby Lounge. Under the Mandarin Oriental management since 2022, the experience now takes place in the hotel's elegant Episodes, the newest dining destination at the iconic hotel. Offering an extensive selection of the finest teas from around the world and exotic coffees, fabulous pastry creations and artisanal savory classics, no matter what you are in the mood for, Episodes has it all. You can also select delicacies from the Mandarin Cake Shop “to go”. For groups, such as cruise ship excursions, High Tea is served on the veranda of Vendome, with views of the private beach.

The High Tea menu at the Emirates Palace is an impressive selection of savory and sweet delicacies, prepared by the hotel's expert chefs. Rich and aromatic tea flavors paired with miniature sweet and savory gourmet creations will delight those seeking a sensational, unforgettable culinary experience. Each couple is presented with a three-tiered plate stand filled with multiple tea sandwiches, raisin scones served with raspberry sauce and lemon curd and miniature desserts. Don’t miss the rose macaron! One of the most notable aspects of the High Tea experience at the Emirates Palace is the service. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every guest has a memorable and personalized experience. How does it Compare to High Tea at the Burj Al Arab? Both the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and the Emirates Palace offer luxurious High Tea experiences, but there are a few notable differences between the two. The ambiance and surroundings of the High Tea experience at the Emirates Palace are more traditional and less modern than the Burj Al Arab. At the Emirates Palace, you walk through the Lobby, an impressive space with its magnificent dome, to the restaurant. At the Burj Al Arab, you take an escalator lined with aquariums, to the glass elevator, which whisks you 27th floors to the Skyview Bar offering stunning views of the Dubai cityscape and the Arabian Gulf. The menu at the Emirates Palace focuses more on traditional delicacies, while the Burj Al Arab offers a more contemporary and experimental selection of treats. The Emirates Palace is more suited to guests who prefer a classic high tea experience, while the Burj Al Arab is ideal for those who want to try something new and exciting. For High Tea at the Burj Al Arab or Emirates Palace, it is recommended to dress formally and elegantly. For men, a suit or dress pants with a collared shirt and dress shoes would be appropriate. For women, a dress or skirt with a blouse or a formal pant suit would be suitable. Guests are encouraged to wear smart-casual or finer clothing; open-toe sandals for men, jeans, t-shirts or shorts will not be permitted. It is important to keep in mind that these hotels are considered some of the most luxurious in the world and located in a conservative Muslim country, so dressing up for the occasion is encouraged. High Tea at the Emirates Palace is a one-of-a-kind experience that offers a glimpse into the luxury and grandeur of Abu Dhabi. The hotel's history and relationship with the Royal Family add to the overall experience, making it a unique and memorable affair. While the High Tea experiences at the Burj Al Arab and the Emirates Palace are different, both offer a taste of unparalleled luxury and indulgence.
