Luxury Cruising

Is cruising for you?

“The journey, not the arrival matters.” T.S. Eliot

Exploring the world by cruise ship is one of the most enjoyable ways to travel with your spouse or family. You unpack once and the scenery changes every day. All logistics are professionally handled, allowing you to relax and enjoy your time together, rather than ensure that everyone's basic needs are met. Cruise ships cater to all generations - from cradle to walker - making a cruise the perfect vacation for multi-generational travel. Cruisers can be as active or relaxed as desired - 24/7 food and entertainment tempts. Engaged in group activities, enrichment, the solitude of a good book on your balcony or a massage to recover from shore excursion over-exertion, time at sea is vacation on demand.

However, cruising is not for all travelers or every itinerary. For those whose wanderlust demands flexibility and autonomy, the "lollipop led" shore excursions and fixed itinerary of the cruise format restrict personal adventure. Better not to book the cruise, than to miss the ship because you’d rather linger in port.

While I have cruised on everything from a freighter to a research vessel to a sailboat to a mega ship, I prefer to book a smaller luxury ship when traveling with my family.

For ocean itineraries, I prefer Regent Seven Seas Cruises for all-inclusive luxury. Having spent over 200 nights onboard the various ships, a RSSC stateroom truly feels like our "home away from home". Beyond ocean cruising, there are river, yacht and expedition cruises to consider. Since I enjoy little luxuries with my adventures, I recommend award-winning Silversea Cruises for luxury expeditions. Their attention to detail, superior level of personalized service and stunningly beautiful contemporary ships earns their reputation as one of the world’s most awarded luxury cruise lines.
